Islamabad: Justice (Retd) Shaukat Siddiqui has said this is Islamabad High Court and not a federal court and here the appointments of judges should be made from Islamabad.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad he said 5 out of 6 benches of NIRC have been linked to video link. Lawyers now give arguments on video link by staying in their cities.

Million of rupees which are saved under the head of TA/DA will be spent on employees. Only Peshawar bench has not been linked to video link.

He said the existing building of Islamabad High Court (IHC) is located where now we had acquired this in 2012.

IHC chief justice and judges met the then chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry. Iqbal Hamid ur Rehman was chief justice.

The then CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry said this job will not be done by you. You should constitute a committee and assign this job to justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

Justice (Retd) Siddiqui said he brought the building of IHC where it is now .

I asked chairman CDA to discuss it in board meeting and bring all the things to me.

He said we were moving ahead with a theme that there will be airy and bright environment. But it could not be done so practically. This building was to be completed in November 2015. It was told on change of contract that this project will become late by 5 years.
