Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has strongly condemned the Indian occupation authorities' recent move to attach land belonging to exiled Kashmiri activists, terming it a colonial-era tactic to silence dissent and dissenting voices.

The JKDFP spokesman, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, said that the Indian government was using confiscations as a tool to silence critical voices that have consistently advocated the Kashmiris' just cause at the international level.

Referring to the attachment of properties belonging to Dr. Syed Nazir Geelani, Ershad Ahmed Malik, and Raja Muzaffar Khan, the spokesman said that the trio have always advocated for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.

He said they are being deliberately targeted for raising their voices for the voiceless people of occupied Kashmir and for seeking a resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with international law.

The spokesman urged world human rights organizations to take effective notice of the matter and to exert pressure on the government of India to stop this insidious practice of dispossessing people of their rightful properties.

Such actions, he said, violate the fundamental principles of justice and international law, which strictly prohibit states from depriving individuals of their right to property.
