Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Vice Emir Liaquat Baloch on Wednesday contacted Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi regarding the escalating situation in Azad Kashmir, expressing deep concern over the deteriorating conditions in the region.

During the telephone conversation, Baloch highlighted that the situation in Azad Kashmir had worsened, with reports of casualties among both police personnel and civilians. He expressed serious concern over the loss of precious lives and stressed that all parties should exercise restraint.

Baloch said that he informed the Interior Minister that despite a recent government committee visit to Azad Kashmir for negotiations, the committee members had neither resolved the issues nor reassured the public. He emphasized that, in such a tense environment, the Ministry of Interior should play an active role, and called on the Prime Minister, who also serves as Chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, to take notice of the situation. Baloch urged that force should not be used in Azad Kashmir and that the matter be resolved based on principles of justice.

According to Baloch, the Interior Minister informed him that an important meeting has been convened in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss steps the government could take to address the situation in Azad Kashmir.

Baloch also noted that prior to speaking with the Interior Minister, he had been in contact with Dr. Mushtaq Khan, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir, to obtain an update on the situation.
