Dhaka: Bangladeshi Police have arrested Barrister Tureen Afroz, former senior prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Thursday night.She was arrested in connection with a murder case during the 2024 protests, filed with the Uttara West Police Station, Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.Police conducted a raid at her residence in Uttara Sector-3 at around 10:00 PM.She also has multiple cases against her in Nilphamari, the police official said.Bangladesh's former senior prosecutor Tureen Afroz, who played a prominent role in sentencing Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to death.Bangladeshi police said they arrested a lawyer, Tureen Afroz, who served as a senior prosecutor at a court that sentenced Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to death under the rule of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.She was arrested on charges of attempted murder, in a case linked to the student-led uprising, said Muhidul Islam.Afroz was a prosecutor at Bangladesh's domestic International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). She played a prominent role in the cases of at least six Islamist leaders, including several from the Jamaat-e-Islami, who were sentenced to hang. All except Ghulam Azam were executed.
