Islamabad: Islamabad High Court's Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan remarked on the cancellation of the contempt of court cause listing against Adiala Jail Superintendent Mishal Yousafzai, saying, 'Before doing this, you might as well have planted explosives in the foundations of my court and blown it up.'

Deputy Registrar Judicial of the Islamabad High Court, Sultan Mahmood, appeared before the court after being summoned over the cancellation of the case listing despite the court's order to allow a meeting with PTI founder. Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan questioned the state counsel, asking, 'Are you involved in what happened? On whose orders was the cause list canceled?'

The Deputy Registrar Judicial informed the court, 'We received instructions from the Chief Justice's office. The Chief Justice's office directed that a larger bench had been formed, so the cause list should be canceled.' Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan asked, 'Under which law was the miscellaneous application for case transfer filed? Does the state support the transfer of a case to a larger bench without the judge's consent?'

The judge remarked, 'Instead of doing this, you could have planted explosives in the foundations of my court and blown it up. We fail to resolve fundamental questions, and every ten years, we find ourselves back at the same point regarding basic principles.'

The Islamabad High Court judge further stated, 'There is no greater folly than expecting economic progress without the rule of law. This is not about me or my powers; it is a matter of the High Court's dignity. How will people maintain their faith in the justice system?'

Petitioner Mishal Yousafzai remarked, 'If this is what is happening to us outside, then what must be happening to PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi inside the jail?'

The court responded, 'You are raising that issue, but we are now concerned about our own institution. A guided missile that was headed towards you is now coming towards us.'

The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing on the cancellation of the contempt of court cause list, regarding the denial of a meeting with Imran Khan, until today (Thursday).
