Peshawar: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, paid a surprise visit to the BISP Tehsil Office Town II and the Camp Office in Peshawar to directly assess the facilities and hear the concerns of female beneficiaries.During her visit, she interacted with the women present at the site, listened to their complaints, and issued on-the-spot instructions to promptly resolve their issues.Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Rubina Khalid reiterated that BISP is the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and a sacred institution committed to empowering women. She added that the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, have all clearly directed that the dignity and self-respect of women visiting BISP centers must not be compromised under any circumstances.She said currently, over 10 million families are benefiting from BISP assistance. Under the Benazir Hunarmand Program, targeted efforts ar e being made to provide skill development opportunities to deserving women, enabling them to lead better, self-reliant lives. Senator Rubina Khalid also clarified that a re-survey is not conducted before two years. However, beneficiaries who have been receiving assistance for three years are required to undergo a re-survey. She stressed that all official messages from BISP are sent only from the number 8171, and no woman should visit a payment center unless she has received a payment confirmation message from this number.She emphasized that the core purpose of her visit was to ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery and to uphold the dignity of the women who rely on BISP support. 'There is absolutely no fee for the BISP survey-it is completely free,' she stated, urging women to report any illegal demands for payment during registration or disbursement.Senator Rubina Khalid advised beneficiaries to register only those mobile numbers that are in their personal use at the time of the surve y to ensure seamless communication. Additionally, she reminded women to count their cash upon receipt, collect the payment receipt, and immediately report any deduction by calling the BISP helpline at 0800-26477. 'Strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of making illegal deductions,' she affirmed.
