BISP South Zone Punjab Takes Firm Action Against Embezzlement and Deductions in Q4 Payments

Multan: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) South Zone Punjab has intensified monitoring to curb unauthorized deductions and financial embezzlement during the Quarter 4 (April-June) tranche of the Benazir Kafaalat Programme for the financial year 2024-25. Field teams conducted rigorous inspections and beneficiary verifications across districts of South Punjab. These efforts have led to actions against malpractice and corruption in payment disbursement. As a result of these operations, in South Zone Punjab a total of 508 retailer devices have been blocked permanently. Twenty (22) FIRs have been registered against individuals involved in illegal deductions and embezzlement. Law enforcement agencies have arrested 23 culprits.

Zonal Director South Zone Punjab, Sayema Bashir, stated that these actions reflect BISP's unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability and the protection of the payments of marginalized families. She further added that BISP monitoring teams are actively present in the field to oversee the disbursement process, ensure strict compliance and respond swiftly to any complaint. She emphasized that the Programme continues to encourage beneficiaries to report any deductions or misconduct through the BISP helpline (0800-26477) or by visiting the nearest BISP office.

Zonal Director South Punjab reaffirmed that deductions in the grant of poor families will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Programme remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that financial support reaches deserving families in full, with dignity and without any kind of deduction.
