Islamabad: The Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, constituted by the Prime Minister, reviewed the national fuel stock position and global energy supply chain in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The committee continued its daily assessment of developments in the energy sector and reviewed national preparedness in light of the evolving regional situation.
A detailed briefing was given on petroleum product stocks across the country, including national reserves of crude oil and refined petroleum products, import arrangements and supply chain logistics. Officials informed the meeting that several shipments are currently en route while additional cargoes are being arranged to strengthen national reserves.
The committee expressed satisfaction that petroleum product stocks remain at comfortable levels and that supply chains are functioning smoothly, ensuring continued availability of fuel in the coming weeks.
Members were also briefed on recent volatility in global crude oil and refined petroleum product prices triggered by geopolitical developments in the region. The meeting reviewed international market indicators and discussed possible scenarios for global energy markets.
Officials informed the committee that the government is closely monitoring international price movements and conducting continuous scenario planning to safeguard domestic energy security and economic stability.
The meeting also reviewed logistical arrangements for crude oil imports, refinery operations and maritime transportation, including coordination with international suppliers and shipping companies. Authorities briefed the committee on measures being taken to ensure uninterrupted refinery operations and fuel supply infrastructure.
The committee emphasized maintaining optimal refinery throughput and strengthening coordination among stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across the country.
Members were also presented with energy conservation and demand management options aimed at reducing pressure on fuel imports during periods of global price volatility. These included efficient fuel consumption initiatives, operational adjustments and conservation measures in the public sector.
During the meeting, the committee also took note of operational concerns raised by stakeholders from the aviation and logistics sectors and directed the relevant authorities to present a detailed assessment at the next meeting.
The committee further reviewed coordination with provincial governments to ensure monitoring of petroleum product availability and prevent supply disruptions. Provincial authorities briefed the meeting on inspections at petrol pumps, while federal officials updated participants on an integrated monitoring dashboard to track stock levels and retail supply conditions across the country in real time.
Chairing the meeting, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that ensuring uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across Pakistan remains the government's top priority. He noted that despite volatility in global energy markets, Pakistan's fuel supply position remains stable due to proactive planning and strong inter-ministerial coordination.
He added that the committee will continue daily monitoring of international energy markets, domestic stock positions and supply chain dynamics to ensure timely policy responses.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies.
