CDA is not authorized to collect fine on traffic rules violations: Law minister tells Senate

Islamabad: Law minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has told Senate that there is need to increase penalty in regard to violations of traffic rules but CDA is not authorized to collect fine.

He said inquiry will be conducted in this regard.

While asking a supplementary question during question hours in Senate senator Muhammad Aslam Abroo said wrong board has been installed by CDA for imposition of heavy fines on heavy vehicles where in CDA name has been mentioned.

Law minister said high way police impose fine on motorway and while traffic police slap fine in Islamabad. Fine amounting to Rs 3000 to 5000 is being slapped so far which needs to be increased.

Heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter into cities during day time, he said.

He said that CDA too slaps fine however traffic police collects fine in regard to vehicles.
