Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed YousafRazaGillani reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and friendly relations with Italy during an informal discussion with Italy's Ambassador to Pakistan, MsMarilinaArmellin, at a reception marking the 80th National Day of the Italian Republic.

Extending congratulations to the Government and people of Italy on behalf of the Senate and people of Pakistan, he described Italy as a trusted friend and emphasized that bilateral ties are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and cooperation on regional and international issues.

The Chairman Senate highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, growing trade and investment, and appreciated Italy's support for Pakistan's GSP+ status and development cooperation in healthcare, education, and sanitation.

Syed YousufRazaGilani also commended Ambassador MarilinaArmellin for her efforts in promoting bilateral relations and expressed confidence that Pakistan Italy friendship and cooperation would continue to grow in the years ahead.

Chairman Senate cut a commemorative cake and conveyed best wishes to the Government and people of Italy.
