Karachi: On the special instructions of the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister, Social Protection Wallets have been launched to ensure transparency in the payment system. Senator Rubina Khalid reviewed the process of providing free SIMs for Social Protection accounts of deserving women. The SIMs are being provided completely free of cost, are available only at BISP centers, and women's digital wallets are activated exclusively by trained BISP staff. Women were advised to safeguard their SIMs and mobile phones, as all future stipends will be transferred through these digital wallets
Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid visited the BISP Dynamic Registry Center located in the Civil Lines Gizri area of Karachi. During the visit, she conducted a detailed review of the process for providing free SIMs for Social Protection Wallets of deserving women and met women who had come to the center to participate in digital and financial literacy training sessions. Sindh Government spokesperson MPA Sadia Javed and MPA Shazia Karim Singhar, along with local PPP leadership, were also present on the occasion.
While interacting with the women, Senator Rubina Khalid clarified that the SIMs are being provided completely free of cost and that no payment should be made to anyone. She advised the women to carefully safeguard their SIMs and mobile phones, as all future stipends will be transferred through these digital wallets, and any amount credited to the wallet will be the sole property of the beneficiary.
Talking to media representatives, Senator Rubina Khalid stated that Social Protection Wallets have been launched on the special instructions of the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister to further enhance transparency in the payment system. She reiterated that the SIMs are available only at BISP centers and that only trained BISP staff are authorized to activate women's digital wallets.
The Chairperson BISP further stated that BISP is working towards establishing a system under which deserving women will be able to withdraw their payments from any bank's ATM after biometric verification, making the payment process more convenient, secure, and efficient.
Later, Senator Rubina Khalid also visited the BISP District Office Keamari and Tehsil Office Harbour, where she reviewed the ongoing process of providing free SIMs for Social Protection accounts of deserving women. On this occasion, Sindh Government spokesperson MPA Sadia Javed and MPA Ms. Shazia Karim Singhar were also present and appreciated the success of the initiative.
