Islamabad: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, on Monday held a live E-Katcheri at BISP Headquarters as part of the Programme's public outreach initiative to directly listen to the concerns of deserving women and the general public and ensure their prompt resolution. During the E-Katcheri, 37 callers from across the country shared their complaints and concerns over the telephone.Senator Rubina Khalid directed the relevant officers to accord top priority to all complaints received during the session, resolve them without delay, and submit a report immediately.Addressing the participants during the E-Katcheri, Senator Rubina Khalid stated that the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, have full confidence in the performance, transparency, and public service of the Benazir Income Support Programme. She said that BISP serves poor and deserving families across the country without any discrimination a nd aims to reduce the financial hardships of low-income households by helping them maintain a balance between their income and essential expenditures.Expressing concern over recent developments, Senator Rubina Khalid said that certain elements are attempting to damage the reputation of BISP for their personal and political interests. She emphasized that the Programme operates above all political, religious, linguistic, and regional affiliations and is solely dedicated to serving deserving citizens.The Chairperson said that derogatory remarks against this national institution and the more than 10 million beneficiary households associated with it are unacceptable and strongly condemnable. She warned that spreading baseless allegations, false information, or attempting to undermine the credibility of BISP for political point-scoring constitutes a criminal offence, and the Programme has the authority to initiate legal proceedings under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).Senator Rubina Khalid fur ther stated that a World Bank study has established that BISP has not only benefited its deserving beneficiaries but has also generated positive economic impacts for local shopkeepers, industries, and the local economy.Highlighting BISP's new digital payment system, she said that under the upcoming payment mechanism, women beneficiaries will be able to withdraw their payments from any authorized agent of any partner bank, in any city across Pakistan, at a time of their convenience.The Chairperson advised women beneficiaries who have not yet obtained their free Benazir SIM from a BISP office, or who are using a SIM acquired from any other source, to visit their nearest BISP office and obtain their free Benazir SIM. She instructed beneficiaries to bring their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone while collecting the SIM and to ensure that the BISP staff inserts the SIM into their mobile phone at the time of issuance.She informed participants that once the payment i s transferred to their Digital Wallet, they will receive an SMS notification from the relevant partner bank. After withdrawing the payment, they will receive another confirmation SMS containing complete details of the amount transferred and withdrawn. She emphasized that this SMS serves as proof of payment and enables beneficiaries to verify that they have received the full amount.Senator Rubina Khalid further advised that if any agent deducts money or fails to pay the full amount, beneficiaries should demand the complete payment on the basis of the SMS received and immediately lodge a complaint with the nearest BISP office or BISP staff. She also urged beneficiaries never to hand over their mobile phones to any agent, as only the original CNIC and biometric verification are required for cash withdrawal. She advised beneficiaries to always keep their mobile phones and phone numbers with them to prevent anyone from deleting important messages or complaint-related information.The Chairperson reiterated that all BISP benefits, services, and facilities are provided completely free of cost. She urged beneficiaries to contact their nearest BISP office or the BISP Helpline 0800-26477 for authentic information, guidance, or to register any complaint.
