Peshawar: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chaired a comprehensive briefing on the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, focusing on key issues such as school infrastructure, teacher recruitment, student enrollment, and the challenge of out-of-school children. The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Education Monitoring Authority and deliberated on performance criteria for District Education Officers (DEOs) to enhance accountability and efficiency within the department. During the session, a strategic discussion took place regarding ongoing and future reform initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in the province. The Chief Secretary underscored that access to quality education is the fundamental right of every child and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening the education sector through well-planned reforms.

Chief Secretary issued directives for strict departmental action against any teacher found using political influence for personal gains. It was decided that a meeting will be convened with District Education Officers to finalize a plan ensuring transparency in board examinations. A dedicated reform working group will be tasked with developing a comprehensive strategy, complete with an action plan and progress tracking mechanisms. Emphasizing the importance of education as the backbone of a strong and progressive society, the Chief Secretary reiterated the provincial government's commitment to enhancing the quality of education. He stressed the need for a structured and result- oriented reform strategy to ensure a sustainable improvement in the education system of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
