CJ LHC summons details of cases consigned to record on basis of compromise deal in Punjab

Lahore: Chief Justice (CJ) Lahore High Court (LHC) Aliya Neelam has sought details of the cases consigned to record on the basis of compromise deal in Punjab.CJ LHC took up for hearing bail plea of the accused Imran Wednesday.During the hearing of the case prosecutor general Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and other senior officers appeared in the court.CJ LHC inquired where are the challans of more than 362000 cases. These challans have either been devoured by heaven or by earth.IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar replied as per court's orders about 150000 challans have been filed. There are challans of 242000 cases in Punjab which are yet to be filed. We are working on them. We held meeting with prosecutor general Punjab in March.Prosecutor general Syed Farhad Ali Shah told the court we are forging an IT system between prosecution and police.The CJ LHC remarked you should upgrade system . Is the court to rectify it. This is job of Punjab government.The court summoned details of cases consigned to record on the basis of reconciliation in Punjab on next hearing.The court while giving time to IG Punjab to file challans adjourned the hearing of the case.
