Muridke: Tensions escalated in Muridke after violent clashes between Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters and law enforcement agencies. According to 'BBC', five people including a police officer were killed.

Punjab Police stated that security forces dispersed TLP workers during the operation in Muridke. One police officer was killed and 48 people were injured, including 17 with gunshot wounds. Police further said that one civilian and three protesters were also killed, and eight others injured.

According to police claims, protesters hurled stones, used spiked sticks and petrol bombs, and opened indiscriminate fire, causing casualties among civilians and security personnel. The police also alleged that demonstrators set fire to 40 government and private vehicles. Several people have been arrested, and a search operation is underway.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Secretary General and Member of the National Assembly Abdul Ghafoor Haidery strongly condemned the late-night operation against TLP. He said that the 'brutal violence' on the TLP convoy was unacceptable, adding that every political party and citizen has the right to hold rallies, demonstrations, and protests to demand their rights.

He further stated that opening direct fire on TLP scholars and workers under the cover of darkness was in no way an act of sympathy with Pakistan.
