CM KP writes letter to PM for immediate supply of gas to CNG sector in KP

Peshawar: Chief Minister (CM) KP Muhammad Sohail Afridi has written a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on suspension of gas supply to CNG sector.It has been demanded in the letter that the problem related to suspension of gas supply to CNG sector be addressed.CM KP wrote in the letter KP is larger gas producing province . The province be not deprived of its constitutional right. The province produces 494 MMCFD gas while its consumption is only 120 MMCFD.The letter said KP CNG sector requires 36 to 40 MMCFD gas which has been shifted to fertilizer sector. Suspension of gas supply to CNG sector is feared to foment unrest and create law and order situation in the province.The CM wrote in the letter under article 158 of the constitution the gas producing province has the first right to use gas. Peshawar High Court (PHC) too has declared closure of CNG stations unjust. The closure of CNG stations is feared to affect jobs of thousands of people.It has been said in the letter transport sector r elies largely on CNG. Restoration of gas is must. Additional burden will be shifted to people due to use of costly fuel.The CM KP requested PM to immediately interfere for restoration of gas supply to CNG sector.He also requested PM to convene meeting of Council of Common interests besides including the matter of supply of gas to CNG sector in agenda.
