CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz inaugurates Electric Bus Project in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated Electric Bus Project in Rawalpindi to provide comfortable, respectable and affordable travel facilities to the people.Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said 45 eco-friendly buses have arrived, while more will come soon.The Chief Minister said there will be around 80 state of the art electric busses to provide transport facilities to the commuters in just twenty rupees. She added that women, senior citizens over 60, and persons with disabilities can travel free of charge.She said these busses will ply from Railway Station to Humrahi Bus Terminal, Fawara Chowk to Koral Chowk, Sadar Station to Munawar Colony and Marir Chowk to Motorway.Highlighting the services being offered in the electric buses, the Chief Minister said that these buses are fully Air Conditioned, equipped with the Wi-Fi facility, and ports for the charging of mobile and gadgets.She further said that a wheelchair will also be there for the convenience of persons with disabilities and elder people.Maryam Nawaz said the buss has a separate CCTV monitored ladies apartment to provide safe and secure environment to women and avoid any incident of harassment. She said around 1100 electric buses will be on the roads of Punjab by the end of this year.Alluding to the road infrastructure projects, the Chief Minister said a 25 kilometers long, signal free corridor from Islamabad Expressway to Peshawar Road will be completed by April next year at the cost of thirty billion rupees.She said it will comprise nine under passes and three flyovers and two hundred thousand commuters will benefit from this project.Similarly, Nawaz Sharif Flyover is also being established for the people of Rawalpindi.Maryam Nawaz highlighted that workers of 'Suthra Punjab' are busy in ensuring a cleaner Rawalpindi like elsewhere in the province. She said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is known for its performance to serve the people in the best possibl e way. She said a cardiology hospital in Murree has been completed, which is now offering health facilities to the people. The Chief Minister also announced construction of a cancer hospital in Rawalpindi.Minister for Railway Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Senior Punjab Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb, Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, National Assembly Members Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Malik Abrar Ahmed Khan, Tahira Aurangzeb, former mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Naseem Khan and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
