Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday on a constitutional petition over misuse of an amenity plot of the Kathiawar Housing Society Karachi as commercial school, directed the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Director General to decide the matter within 45 days.

As per details, a SHC division bench of Justice Yousuf Ali Saeed and Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho heard the CP (D) 1082/2025 filed by Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor through his lawyer Khuram Lakhani Advocate and passed a short order.

The court in its short order said: The case of the petitioner is one where it is alleged that an amenity plot is being wrongly used for establishment of a school on commercial basis. Learned counsel submits that as an application has been made in the matter to the Director General SBCA for appropriate action to be taken. He submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if direction is given to the SBCA DG to decide the same in accordance with law.

The short order further reads: Learned counsel appearing on behalf of SBCA raises no objection in that regard. Under the circumstances, petition stands disposed of with the direction to the SBCA DG to examine the aforesaid application and decide the same through a speaking order after hearing all concerned within a period of 45 days from today.

However, later talking to media outside the court premises, PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor said that commercial activities on amenity plots are increasing in Karachi due to nexus between office-bearers of cooperative societies and corruption bureaucracy. He said the PDP would continue to raise voice again this menace and fight for the legal rights of citizens at every front.
