Islamabad: COMSATS United emerged victorious in a friendly cricket match against the Federal Education Reporters Association (FERA) Eleven, held under floodlights at COMSATS University.
The match was graced by COMSATS University Rector Dr. Raheel Qamar as the chief guest, while Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), attended as the guest of honor.
After winning the toss, COMSATS United captain Muhammad Azam invited FERA Eleven, led by Rana Farhan Aslam, to bat first. FERA Eleven posted a total of 94 runs in the allotted ten overs, with Mehtab Bashir scoring 43 and Asim Jelani contributing 16 runs.
COMSATS United chased the target comfortably in the seventh over, winning the match by nine wickets.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raheel Qamar praised both teams for their sportsmanship and highlighted that COMSATS University not only imparts quality education but also promotes sports activities among students. He said the ongoing 'Sports Week' at the university has seen enthusiastic participation from both male and female students in various games.
He appreciated the efforts of Sports Manager Muhammad Mushtaq and the ground staff for organizing the match in an excellent manner.
