Condemned prisoner acquitted in triple murder case due to poor investigation, weak prosecution

Lahore: Death convict who was awarded death sentence three time in triple murder case has been acquitted by Lahore High Court (LHC) owing to poor investigation and weak prosecution.

LHC while setting aside three time death sentence in respect of Maisar Hussain has acquitted him.

He was convicted and awarded death sentence three times for killing 3 persons including Niaz Ahmad, Ahmad Niaz and their driver Faiz in 2018.

As per media report a two members bench of LHC comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and justice Tariq Nadim announced the decision.

Trial court had awarded three times death sentence to Maisar Hussain in 2021.

During the hearing of appeal plea, however LHC annulled the decision due to weak evidence and poor investigation.

According to legal experts, this decision underscores the need for introducing reforms in prosecution system where the accused escape the punishment due to poor investigation in heinous crimes.
