Islamabad: Contempt of court petition has been filed against Election Commission (EC) for not implementing apex court decision in regard to reserved seats so far.Petition has been filed by Suleman Akram Raja in Supreme Court (SC) making members of EC respondents.The petitioner has taken plea EC be ordered to implement the decision forthwith. Contempt of court proceedings be initiated against members of EC.The petition further said EC has not implemented SC decision despite the fact apex court had informed commission twice in details. SC has issued clarifications twice in this regard wherein it has been said that court's decision be implemented forthwith.It is binding on EC to implement SC decision as per article 189 of the constitution.However prevailing situation is this EC is making pretexts despite passage of so long time in reserved seats case and it is not implementing SC decision still .It is requested to SC to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the EC. The EC be ordered to implement SC decision on the matter of reserved seats as per court orders.8 judges of SC under Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had issued order to EC in the matter of reserved seats while five judges had opposed this decision.8 judges of SC had ordered EC to allot reserved seat to PTI in federation and provinces.
