Contempt of court petition filed in IHC on not arranging PTI leaders, lawyers meeting with Imran Khan in jail

Islamabad: Contempt of court petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on not arranging meeting of PTI founder with party leaders and lawyers.

PTI leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz have filed contempt of court plea making interior secretary, home secretary Punjab and superintendent Adiala jail respondents.

The petition was filed through PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen advocate and other lawyers.

The petitioner took the plea I am opposition leader and I represent the largest party of the country. PTI founder is in jail. Consultation is needed in legal and party matters.

It was said in the petition court had ordered for making SOPs for meetings. Meetings are not being allowed despite making schedule on court's orders. the court had issued order on November 22, 2024 with reference to meetings.

The petitioner requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings due to non implementation of court's orders.

The order be issued to allow party leaders for holding meeting with PTI founder in jail as per court's orders.

It is pertinent to mention here that Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub had earlier too filed contempt of court plea taking the plea meeting was not arranged with Imran Khan despite order of larger bench of IHC. However first contempt of court petition could not be fixed for hearing.
