Islamabad: District and Sessions Court while announcing reserved judgment on bail after arrest plea has approved bail plea of senior journalist Fakhar ur Rehman in controversial post case on X under PECA act.

The court had reserved judgment following completion of the arguments of the respondents.

The court has approved bail plea against surety bond in the sum of Rs 1 lac. The surety bond amount was reduced to Rs 50000 on the request of the counsel.

Judicial magistrate Judge Abbas Shah took up the case for hearing on Monday.

Barrister Ahad Khokhar appeared on behalf of journalist Fakhar ur Rehman in the court.

President PFUJ Afzal Butt also appeared in the court.

Counsel Ahad Khokhar took the plea that mobile has been recovered as per NCCIA report. The accused is old aged citizen. He is on regular medicine. The accused has not given his opinion and he has tweeted the statement of Maulana.

As per FIA, the role of the accused has not been told. This is a baseless case therefore, the bail be granted.

The prosecution took the plea that journalism is a sacred profession. Was the statement got verified from DG ISPR or defence ministry. The entire Skurdu was burnt due to such tweets. The ties between Pakistan and Iran are before the entire world that what is situation. The bail plea of the accused be rejected.

The court reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments of the respondents. Later it was announced.
