Islamabad: Finance Minister (FM) Muhammad Aurangzeb has said country cannot run on charity."Country cannot run on charity. Tax will have to be paid at every cost. By the end of this month Staff level agreement will be approved by IMF executive board. Talks will be held on climate financing after approval of this agreement. During annual meeting in October talks will be held with IMF and world bank on climate financing , he said this while addressing a press conference here Tuesday.Pakistan falls in the list of countries affected by climate change. Pakistan will have to evolve steps for protecting itself from the impacts of climate change and population control.Bureaucracy is every where , he said adding every thing should have a framework.We will have to take forward private sector.Country does not run on charity, he said. Every one will have to play one's role for betterment of country.We cannot give tax exemption to traders, he held. IMF has no objection over targeted subsidy. Subsidy can b e given to deserving community. Talks will be held with chief ministers on this issue this week.He pointed out the talks are in final phase for roll over of loan. This is running in positive manner. Agreement is must now in connection with commercial loan.The tax recovery target of FBR will be met through digitalization and enforcement.No proposal for enhancing withholding tax is under consideration at present.We will extend every facility to the traders and their just demands will be accepted. But withdrawing tax from traders means tax be collected from salaried class and manufacturing sector. It can not happen so. Every segment of society will have to pay tax because country cannot progress without it.Results are coming to fore with regard to stability of macroeconomicsOur currency is stable. Our all back log has been cleared. Like- wise inflation was 38 percent which has now reduced to 9.6 percent. Policy rate has also declined due to dip in inflation rate.I request to all whole sellers, distributors and retailers to go ahead and put their share in the development of country. We will provide whatever possible facility we can provide.About rightsizing in departments and ministries he said size of federal government will be reduced. But there is procedure for it. We have taken 6 ministries and two among them are being merged. The number of grade 22 officers will stand reduced after amalgamation. But this is not talk of announcements. Later next phase is implemented. Action will be taken in regard to next 5 ministries following implementation.
