Islamabad: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has issued contempt of court show cause notice to superintendent Adiala jail for not providing the signed powers of attorney (vakalatnamas) of both lawyers and for not presenting Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in the court through video link.

Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra of ATC Islamabad heard the case for not providing power of attorney for filing bail pleas by Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha .

The Adiala jail authorities could not provide the power of attorneys of both the lawyers after getting them signed.

No one from jail authorities appeared in the court.

However Shireen Mazari and lawyers appeared in the court in large number.

Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha could not be produced in the court through video link despite court's orders.

The court then issued a contempt of court show-cause notice to the Adiala jail superintendent.

Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra said superintendent should explain as to why 6 months imprisonment be not awarded to him.

The jail superintendent should neither push the courts against the wall nor put himself against the wall.

The court staff told the judge they are not presenting Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali through video link so far.

Jail authorities are telling there is problem of internet.

Upon it judge said there was internet problem in one case. The Jail authorities were telling repeatedly net was not working properly.

I first ordered PTCL and then NTC to send experts to the jail, adding experts were also ordered to be sent from Haripur to the jail.

Receiving powers of attorney is a basic right of an accused, the judge said.

The court while issuing contempt of court show cause notice adjourned the hearing till Tuesday.
