The hague: The Permanent Court of Arbitration on Monday ordered India to stop work on hydropower projects and uphold the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) with Pakistan.

Arbitration court has made it clear that IWT stands fully implemented now because India had no legal justification to end or suspend IWT.

Hague based Court of Arbitration has said in its important decision on Monday, India must limit work on a hydroelectric plant in the Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK) and uphold a water-sharing treaty with Pakistan, which it suspended over tensions with its neighboring country,

The court said that one impartial expert appointed by World Bank will decide till July 2027 whether the construction of hydroelectric plants in the Himalayan region was in line with the treaty.
