Rawalpindi: The court has rejected the plea by Aleema Khan sister of Imran Khan challenging the indictment proceedings in respect of November 26 protest case registered against her after hearing the stance of the respondents.

Judge Amjid Ali Shah of ATC Rawalpindi heard the case related to November 26 protest.

Aleema Khan appeared in the court along with her counsel Faisal Malik and took the plea the indictment was not framed in the presence of the accused.

The counsel Faisal Malik told the court the presence of the accused is must as per law at the time of indictment.

As per law the signatures of the accused on indictment are must.

The accused and the defence counsel came to know about the indictment proceedings through media.

Prosecutor Zahir Shah informed that the court indicted the accused persons on October 15. It did not come to the mind of the defence counsel to challenge the indictment proceedings till 2 months. Challenging indictment proceedings is tantamount to disrupting trial.

Zahir Shah further said the accused and her counsel are using dilatory tactics deliberately. Opportunities were given to the accused repeatedly. No accused challenged the indictment proceedings in any court for two months. The indictment has been framed correct and as per law.

The court dismissed Aleema Khan plea after hearing the argument s of the respondents.

The court accepted attendance of Aleema Khan on her late arrival.

The court had issued orders for confiscating the bail bonds of Aleema Khan and issued contempt of court notice during the previous hearing.
