Islamabad: It has been disclosed that cyber attacks are on rise on whatsapp accounts in Pakistan in alarming proportion.

National Emergency Response Team (NERT) has issued alert regarding hijacking of whatsapp accounts in Pakistan.

Cyber attacks on whatsapp accounts have surged to dangerous level. Business and offices whats app accounts are under serious threat.

Cyber criminals are occupying accounts through fake calls, fake links, OTB and QR codes .

The attackers are deceiving consumers by posing them as telecom personnel or acquaintances or whats app support.

They hijack the accounts, use the identification of consumer and extort money through fraud.

Dubious log out, unknown linked devices and coming to OTP is sign of hijacking.

National Emergency Response Team has issued directives to the consumers about whatsapp account.

No consumer should give code of whats app, pin or Qr to any one.

Two steps verification and recovery E-Mail have been declared compulsory for the protection of account saying the affected consumer should instantly re-install whats app and get the number verify again.

Make the whatsapp safe immediately and report the dubious activity.
