Lahore: Decision has been taken to extend scope of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) from district level to tehsil level in Punjab.
Under this program WASA services will be provided in 99 Tehsils of Punjab.
According to housing department Punjab spokesperson, it has been decided to provide modern services of WASA to rural areas following successful flood management experience in urban areas so that water drainage system could be developed in effective and organized way.
According to spokes person, secretary housing Punjab Noor ul Amin, while directing the respective authorities to take immediate steps has said under the directives of Chief minister Punjab the project for expansion of WASA be implemented without further delay. Necessary arrangements be made for providing services at Tehsil level.
Authorities have said net work of WASA agencies will be extended to Tehsil level under the project. Desilting campaign, modern sewerage planning and new systems for water drainage system will be introduced.
The summary of the project has been sent to Chief Minister for approval.
