Defence budget must be enhanced: Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said there is war in the region and Pakistan too is fighting war, therefore, defence budget must be enhanced.

He said this while talking to a private TV channel here Monday.

As per media reports, he held efforts are underway to stop US-Iran war. European countries are hesitating to side with US and Israel in the war. This is not popular war.

He indicated that 20 percent oil of the world passes through strait of Hermuz. The shortage to be caused due to its closure will affect the economy at international level.

Earlier he said India waged direct war with Pakistan. Pakistan defeated its enemy which is five time bigger than our country. India wants to take advantage of every situation which causes loss to Pakistan.

He observed attacks are made on Pakistan from Afghanistan. We will not spare Fitna Alkhwaraj.

He said the present attitude of people and government of Afghanistan was neither acceptable in the past nor will it be acceptable in future. Pakistan made several efforts to resolve the problems through dialogue. Afghanis are not trusted people. I have met them twice. Operation should continue unless threat comes to end.

He further said Afghanistan has always sponsored the terrorists. Had there been no support from Afghanistan, these terrorists would have been finished since long. Bringing the prevailing situation to its logic end is essential.
