Islamabad: JUI-F while expressing reservations over extraordinary delay in announcement of the result and alleged rigging in certain constituencies in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) election has raised serious questions over the transparency of election process.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri central leader of JUI-F said delay in the announcement of the result and reservations about form 45 have rendered the credibility of election process dubious.
Tradition of withholding and changing the result of election has been plunging the country into political crisis in the past. While the recent GB election looks to be a glimpse of 2024 controversial election.
Any bid to render the people of GB deprived of their right of franchise should be stopped.
Referring to Darel constituency in GB particularly he said the rival candidate took away ballot box to change victory of JUI-F candidate Rehmat Khaliq into defeat.
He warned if people mandate is not respected then it can yield grave political consequences.
The respective institutions should take immediate steps to ensure the electoral transparency and public trust , he added.
