Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has strongly denounced recent remarks by the Indian Home Minister, saying that a smear campaign unleashed against the Hurriyat Conference is a reflection of institutionalized hatred against the people of Kashmir.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal said the minister's inflammatory language reflects the deep-seated hostility within the Indian establishment towards Kashmiris.

'Branding the Hurriyat as a terrorist organization exposes the toxic mindset prevalent in India's ruling circles,' he said. 'Such narratives are part of a broader strategy to discredit the Kashmiri people's legitimate and peaceful struggle for their right to self-determination.'

Advocate Iqbal emphasized that the Hurriyat Conference is a genuine representative forum that mirrors the will of a vast majority of Kashmiris, who have consistently rejected India's forcible control over the region.

'The Indian government's attempts to malign this movement cannot distort the historical and political facts,' he added.

'Kashmir remains a disputed territory, and its future must be decided in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions, which guarantee the right of the people to determine their destiny through a fair and impartial plebiscite.', he added.
