Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami is set to host the country's largest-ever Digital Youth Summit on Sunday, June 22, at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad.
Announcing the event at a press conference here on Friday, JI information secretary Shakil Ahmed Turabi and head of JI Media Cell Salman Sheikh shared key details of the summit and its national significance.
The summit, said Turabi, will feature a major address by JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, who will unveil a comprehensive roadmap for the youth of Pakistan.
So far, over 12,000 young men and women have registered for the event - with more than 50 percent of registrants being female. Organizers have urged all registered participants to ensure their presence at the summit.
Describing it as a historic first-of-its-kind digital event, Salman Sheikh noted that the summit's primary aim is to promote a positive national narrative and empower Pakistani youth in the digital age.
'Youth are being deliberately pushed towards hopelessness and diverted toward unconstructive directions. Through this summit, we aim to counter that trend and equip our young generation to use digital platforms responsibly and productively,' said Sheikh.
He emphasized that in recent times, social media has been used to blur the lines between political opposition and anti-state rhetoric, creating confusion and polarization. The summit will address these critical challenges by fostering dialogue and awareness on the responsible use of digital platforms.
Key highlights of the Digital Youth Summit include multiple breakout sessions on media, leadership, digital innovation, and civic responsibility, a special Youth Shark Tank, where promising ideas from young participants will receive sponsorship opportunities and a dedicated session on Palestine, reaffirming solidarity with the oppressed. Sheikh said digital influencers in a large number will participate. Alkhidmat Foundation will also host a dedicated desk at the venue. 'This summit is not a one-time event. We aim to make the Digital Youth Summit an annual feature,' said Sheikh Salman.
'Pakistan's future lies in an informed, empowered, and united youth, and Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to playing its role in that transformation.' The organizers reiterated their appeal to all registered youth to attend the summit in person and become part of a movement that seeks to reclaim the digital space for national progress and unity.
