Manila: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said diplomacy is only way towards durable peace in growing global uncertain situation.
Pakistan is determined to play its role through the ASEAN Regional Forum for regional peace, stability and bolstering cooperation, he said this while addressing the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting in Manila, Philippines Thursday.
He said Pakistan has reiterated its support for effective implementation of the Manila Plan of Action 2026-2036 , however effective multi dimensional cooperation is indispensible to counter regional and international challenges.
Calling for resolving Kashmir issue as per UN Security Council resolutions he said equitable solution to Jammu and Kashmir conflict is basis for lasting peace in South Asia.
He said Pakistan will continue to support for peaceful and just solution of Kashmir issue. International community should play its role for protection of global law and peaceful resolution of outstanding issues.
Pakistan played active diplomatic role for peace and stability in gulf region and it facilitated US-Iran talks.
Terming the suspension of Indus River Treaty by India grave and provocative step he said the unilateral steps regarding agreement can affect interests of 250 million Pakistanis.
Expressing concern over Gaza situation he said Pakistan will continue its unwavering support for right to self determination of people of Palestine. .
Pakistan officially and consistently supports the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders.
About war on terrorism, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan, despite all odds, is determined to fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. He said this is a long-term commitment that requires sustained national efforts and enhanced international cooperation.
He called upon the Afghan Taliban regime and all abettors of terrorism in the region to refrain from allowing Afghan territory to be used against its neighbours or anyone else. He also urged ASEAN Regional Forum members to support efforts aimed at ensuring that Afghan territory is not used to threaten regional peace and security.
He stressed for just e resolution of Kashmir issue. for abiding peace in South Asia. Jammu and Kashmir issue be resolved as per UN Security Council resolutions, he added.
