Islamabad: Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued contempt of court notice to Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet members for not presenting report in Dr Aafia release case.

The court has sought reply within two weeks besides ordering the office to fix this case after September 01.

Aafia Siddiqui case came up for hearing before judge Sardar Ishaq Ejaz of IHC Monday who has issued 3-page written order for hearing of the case.

The order said federal government has not filed reasons for not providing legal assistance in mercy appeal of Dr Aafia Siddiqui despite court's orders. No option is left with the court except issuing contempt of court notice to federal government.

The decision said coming in the court by a judge who is on leave for hearing is nothing else than providing justice.

Judge further said Fouzia Siddiqui is daughter of Pakistan. Appeal is fixed in Supreme Court. Judge wants to sit in court on leave day to provide justice.
