Islamabad: Foreign Office (FO) has said Pakistan is unwavering supporter of One-China policy and every bid to harm relations between the two countries will fail.
"We are aspirant of permanent ceasefire in Gaza and we stand by our stance of 2-state solution of Palestine. Relocation of Afghan nationals is not illegal. IAE chief is coming on visit to Pakistan next week.
This was said by FO Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in his weekly press briefing here Thursday. aq
President Asif Ali Zardari is on official visit to China at present where he has met his Chinese counterpart president XI Jingping. During the meeting the two held talks with reference to further fortifying the connectivity between both of the countries.
FO spokesperson made it clear that the two exchanged views on Pak-China relations and regional and international affairs during the meeting.
President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan unwavering support to One China policy.
The two countries have agreed on zero tolerance policy against terrorism.
He said ensuring security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan is top priority of government of Pakistan.
FO spokesperson said President Asif Ali Zardari has met Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing and has renewed Pakistan support on China principle.
Pakistan has always aspired for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council resolutions.
Referring to the recent irresponsible statements from the Indian leadership, the Spokesperson said Pakistan maintains a robust defense to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Responding to a question, the Spokesperson demanded Afghan authorities to fulfill their assurances by taking action against the terrorist organizations operating on their soil.
Shafqat Ali Khan said Pakistan's position on Palestine issue is clear and it will continue to stand by the people of Palestine in their just struggle for self-determination as well as for the establishment of a sovereign, independent and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He said the proposal to displace the Palestinians from Gaza is deeply troubling and unjust, emphasizing Palestinian land belongs to the Palestinian people.
Earlier in his opening statement, the spokesperson said that Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi will undertake an official visit to Pakistan next week at the invitation of government of Pakistan. During his visit, the DG IAEA will call on the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister. He will also participate in seminars at Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and the National University of Sciences and Technology. He will also visit Chashma nuclear power generating stations.
The spokesperson said Pakistan and IAEA have a longstanding cooperation. Pakistan is currently member of the Board of Governors of the IAEA. He said the visit of DG IAEA reaffirms Pakistan's deepening partnership with the IAEA on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology aimed at fostering socio-economic development of the country.
He said date about Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan visit to Pakistan will be announced soon.
He went on to say we support moderate, peaceful Syria and end to un-certainty and problems therein.
The matter of Jirga by provincial governments will take place with the help of FO.
He underlined the mercy appeal of Dr Aafia Siddiqui to former US president Biden has been rejected. US justice department has closed the case following rejection of appeal. Now Dr Aafia Siddiqui can file new mercy appeal at any time again in future.
