Dr. Tariq Saleem inaugurates a major membership camp in Gujrat city as part of JIP’s nationwide ‘Badl Do Nizam’ membership campaign

Gujrat: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Northern Punjab Dr. Tariq Saleem, along with Chaudhry Ansar Mahmood, inaugurated a major membership camp in Gujrat city as part of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan's nationwide 'Badl Do Nizam' (Change the System) membership campaign.

The campaign is currently underway across all districts of Punjab, where party workers and members are actively engaging citizens in streets, neighborhoods, markets, and bazaars, inviting them to join Jamaat-e-Islami. Membership camps have been established in multiple locations to facilitate public participation. On the occasion, Dr. Khalid Mahmood Saqib and Raja Naeem Khawar, along with other officials, were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tariq Saleem said that rising inflation, corruption, unemployment, and continuous increases in the prices of petroleum, gas, and electricity have made life extremely difficult for the common citizen. He emphasized that under these circumstances, fundamental change in the system has become inevitable. He urged youth, women, and senior citizens to become members of Jamaat-e-Islami and actively participate in the struggle for change. 'This campaign is not merely about membership; it is a peaceful, democratic, and ideological movement aimed at establishing a system based on justice, public relief, and equal access to basic facilities,' he said.

Dr. Tariq Saleem welcomed the announcement by Hafiz Naeemur Rehman of a nationwide protest on May 1 against the sharp increase in petroleum prices and high electricity costs. He criticized the government for imposing heavy levies on fuel, stating that the public is paying up to Rs. 107 per liter in taxes on petrol. He further said that electricity bills include multiple charges such as GST, Neelum-Jhelum surcharge, fuel price adjustments, and capacity payments to IPPs, placing an unbearable burden on consumers. 'The common man is being financially squeezed from all sides,' he remarked. Criticizing major political parties, he said that governance by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party exists largely in advertisements, alleging that despite being in power for years, they have failed to bring meaningful improvements in any sector.

Dr. Tariq Saleem concluded by saying that the people must unite for real change and support Jamaat-e-Islami's mission to establish a fair, transparent, and people-centric system in the country.
