Murree: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami North Punjab, Dr. Tariq Saleem, has strongly condemned the recent hike in petroleum prices, calling it a "suicidal attack" on the public, which is already struggling with inflation.

Addressing a training workshop of Jamaat-e-Islami Sargodha officials in Murree, Dr. Tariq Saleem said the continuous rise in fuel and electricity costs is crippling the economy and pushing the common man towards desperation.

Dr. Tariq Saleem criticized the ruling coalition for what he termed as a 'betrayal of public trust.' He pointed out that before the elections, the government had pledged to provide free electricity and cheap petrol. Still, even after spending over a year and a half in power, those promises remain unfulfilled.

'Instead of relief, the public has been burdened with more taxes and levies,' he remarked. 'The surge in petroleum prices will trigger another wave of inflation, making daily life unbearable for the working class and poor segments of society.'

Highlighting Jamaat-e-Islami's growing public engagement, Dr. Tariq Saleem announced that the party has successfully enrolled 2.2 million new members in its recent nationwide membership campaign. He added that public committees are being established at block code, union council, and constituency levels to empower communities and strengthen grassroots activism.

'Real change will not come from empty promises but through organized public power. Our aim is to initiate a genuine revolution by mobilizing people at every level of society,' he asserted.

Dr. Tariq Saleem reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami's commitment to holding the government accountable and standing with the people in these economically challenging times.
