Islamabad: Election Commission (EC) has reserved judgment in distribution of reserved seats case.

A 5-member bench of EC presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) heard the case on Monday.

Counsels for JUI-F, PML-N, PPP, PTI-P and ANP appeared before EC.

JUI-F counsel Kamran Murtaza argued before EC this case has been challenged. Will it have effect on only KP or the entire Pakistan.

PML-N counsel said when seats of JUI-F and PML-N are equal then how can the reserved seats be not equal.

PML-N counsel said 9 seats should have been given each to both parties. How can be distributed 8 seats to us and 10 seats to PML-N. As per law toss can take place if the seats are equal. We request for toss due to equal seats.

Counsel for JUI-F Kamran Murtaza said had notification of Tariq Awan been issued till February 16, he would have been included. The matter of reserved seats will rise again in the country due to one seat. PML-N settled the matter with us and now they are going contrary to this. If Tariq Awan is included then new legal issue will surface up.

He said if notification has been issued on February 22 , can the reserved seats prior to this period be withdrawn.

He said can the notifications in respect of reserved seats of entire country be withdrawn for the sake of one seat.

Member Sindh Nisar Durrani inquired if seats of any party become less in by polls then can the reserved seats become less.

Counsel for PTI-P said no. Reserved seats cannot be taken back. We have reservations as our two representatives have been counted one. If it is seen in terms of notification then two seats should be allotted to us.

The EC reserved the judgment following the completion of arguments.
