Islamabad: Election Commission (EC) has reserved the decision regarding intra party elections of proscribed Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) after hearing the case. A five members bench presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) heard the case.
During the hearing of the case special secretary political finance told the commission that reply to show cause notice has been received from TLP. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) inquired whose signatures are there on written reply.
Special secretary political finance told there are signatures of Bilal Qadri on written reply. It carries the signatures of Bilal Qadri who has been shown as permanent election commissioner of party.
The authorities further told that the term of office bearers of party had ended in December 2025. While the stance has been taken in written reply intra party election could not take place despite several efforts for the reason the offices were sealed.
During the hearing of the case CEC while raising question over power of attorney of TLP counsel and his powers regarding representation said at present he is not being heard as counsel. Satisfy us over power of attorney first. If powers are not proved then he would be declared irrelevant person in the order.
CEC said focal person Aamir Shahzad had appeared during previous hearing from your side and we had rejected his right to claim.
The counsel told the bench he is representing chairman Election Authority Bilal Qadri while he is not in contact with Amir of party although Amir is there.,
Counsel for TLP took the plea chairman Election authority Bilal Qadri was arrested in October 2025. He held intra party elections after his release in June 2026 on bail.
CEC remarked election commission had rejected the plea seeking extension for holding intra party election. Was this decision challenged at any judicial forum. Was the election commission informed 15 days before election.
The counsel replied prior information was not given to election commission. Full justice be administered to us keeping in view the prevailing situation and intra party election be accepted.
The EC reserved judgment on completion of hearing.
