Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while taking notice of controversial statement given in Havellian public meeting has summoned KP Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi and candidate in by polls Shehr Naz Omar Ayub.
According to ECP CM KP threatened district administration, police and the staff appointed during by polls and he tried to incite the people . An absconding criminal was also present with him whose wife is participating in by polls.
ECP said the process of holding peaceful by polls in NA-18 Hari Pur has been adversely affected due to irresponsible attitude of chief executive of province.
The ECP while summoning Sohail Afridi and candidate in by polls Shehr Naz Omar Ayub on Saturday for violating elections act-2017 and code of conduct has issued notice to them.
ECP has directed Election Commissioner KP to meet chief secretary and IG immediately and ensure necessary security arrangements. A report in this connection be presented to election commission.
ECP has also decided to write letter to secretary interior ministry so that fool proof security arrangements could be made in the constituency with the help of federal security forces and protection of people, district returning officers, returning officers, election staff and voters could be ensured.
Provincial election commissioner has been directed if any office holder l of provincial or federal government violates the code of conduct or tries to influence the electoral process then stern action be taken against him as per law and constitution.
ECP has written letter to defence secretary for deployment of army and civil armed forces on November 23 in connection with by polls.
