Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operation continues in Islamabad, over 2,511 tons of offal disposed

Islamabad: Special cleanliness operations continued in Islamabad on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha under the directives of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister.

According to officials, a total of more than 2,511.032 tons of animal offal was disposed of during the first two days of Eid. Over 150,000 large and small animals were sacrificed across the federal capital during the period.

On the first day, more than 65,000 small and 44,000 large animals were sacrificed, while 1,807.868 tons of offal were collected. On the second day, over 23,000 small and 17,000 large animals were sacrificed, resulting in 703.164 tons of waste disposal.

The operation is being monitored by senior officials of CDA, Solid Waste Management and ICT administration from the field, while a central control room has been established at Islamabad Safe City.

More than 2,000 staff members and over 200 modern vehicles and machinery are engaged in the cleanliness drive. A total of 151 pits have been dug at 89 locations for proper waste disposal.

To maintain hygiene and eliminate odor, lime, phenyl, rose water and water spraying are being carried out across the city. A helpline (1334) and WhatsApp service have also been activated for public complaints.

Officials said the cleanliness operation continues on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha, with efforts underway to make Islamabad a clean and zero-waste city.
