Election Commission of Pakistan issues schedule for polling to fill vacant Senate seats from KP

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the schedule for polling to fill vacant Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the official notification issued by ECP, polling for seven general seats, two seats reserved for women, and two for Technocrats, including Ulema, will be held on 21st of this month at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has also announced the schedule for the Senate election on the seat vacated by Dr. Sania Nishtar.

According to the schedule, nomination papers can be submitted on 10th and 11th of this month, scrutiny will take place on 16th, while polling will be conducted on 31st of this month.

In addition, the ECP has also released a notification regarding the postponed election process for the Senate seat vacated due to the demise of Senator Sajid Mir. As per the revised schedule, the Returning Officer will issue the revised list of candidates on 15th of this month, and nomination papers can be withdrawn by 16th of this month. Polling for this seat will take place in the Punjab Assembly on 21st of this month.

Besides, the Election Commission of Pakistan notified schedule to fill two vacant reserved seats for Women in the National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province due to exhaustion of the priority list earlier provided by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The PML-N has been asked to file nomination papers from 9th to 10th of this month.
