Election schedule for general elections of Azad Jammu and Kashmir changed; polling will be held in different phases

Muazaffarabad: Election schedule for the general elections of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been changed. Due to law and order situation, polling will be conducted in three phases, in the first phase polling will be conducted on 27th July in Mirpur Division, in second phase polling will be conducted on 2nd August in Muzaffarabad Division and in third phase polling will be conducted in Poonch Division on 10th August 2026.

Now it has been decided to conduct the polling in three phases instead of one day.

According to the statement issued by the Election Commission, the purpose of this decision is to ensure security, satisfied law and order situation and holding of peaceful and transparent elections in all constituencies.

Chief Election Commissioner Azad Kashmir Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has clarified that the results will not be kept pending till the completion of all phases but will be announced with the completion of elections on all seats of the concerned division.
