Islamabad: Punjab government has withdrawn subsidy of Rs 14 per unit of electricity for consumers of Islamabad under the pressure of IMF.The consumers from federal area will not be entitled to Rs 14 per unit subsidy in the bills for the month of September.According to notification issued by Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) the electricity bills for the month of September will be issued as per July 01 rates of electricity.When contacted information minister Punjab Uzma Bokhari confirmed the withdrawal of subsidy from Islamabad consumers of electricity saying Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz wanted to give subsidy to consumers but this relief could not be provided to the consumers from federal capital due to agreement with IMF. However the subsidy will remain in place for Punjab consumers till September 30.
