Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif while announcing to establish National Academy on 25 acres land in federal capital in connection with police training and sending officers to China for one month training has said Elite force is not meant for providing protection to Elite but is for uprooting social evils.
" terrorism is re-emerging in the country again. Armed forces and security forces personnel are rendering sacrifice of their lives in this war, PM said this while addressing trainee police officers at National Police Academy in Islamabad on Tuesday
He emphasized the need for the highest level of training for police officers to enable them to efficiently discharge their duties.
Shehbaz Sharif applauded the sacrifices being rendered by police personnel in the line of duty.
He announced that National Police Academy will also award Master's degree.
He said the real test of police personnel after training will be in practical field where they have to provide justice to common man besides ensuring protection to life and property and establishing peace in cities and villages.
He held these all targets are next to impossible without training and facilities.
During briefing it was told that standard training, better accommodation and state of the art training facilities will be provided in the academy. Masters degree will be introduced in the academy.
PM said new national academy encompassing 25 acres land is being constructed in Islamabad. Elite training school and firing range will too be constructed. Police officers will be sent to China for one month training.
Paying tribute to sacrifices of police men PM said one police Jawan embraced martyrdom while saving life of citizens in river Jhelum.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said UN is going to launch its program in this academy. Cyber crimes, criminology, and other modern courses will be introduced in this academy in near future. Substantial salaries will be given to the officers for imparting training in this academy. Assistant course commanders will also be appointed so that best police officers are prepared.
He held National Police Academy will not be a dumping station now but it will be a modern training centre.
The ceremony was attended by information minister Atta Ullah Tarar and state minister for interior Talal Chaudhry as well.
