Eradication of narcotics in educational institutions case: Implementation reports by respective institutions filed in IHC

Islamabad: Implementation reports in respect of case related to eradication of narcotics in educational institutions has been filed in the court by the respective institutions.

The case regarding elimination of narcotics from the educational institutions came in IHC for hearing Wednesday.

Director legal IG office Tahir Kazim, ANF prosecutor Rana Zulfiqar and DSP legal Sajid Cheema appeared in the court.

During the hearing of the case Islamabad Police, Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) and Private School Regulatory Authority filed their reports in the court on implementation of orders.

Director Legal IG Office Tahir Kazim informed the court under the order of court , two important meetings of stake holders have been held under IG Islamabad. Joint strategy for eliminating narcotics in educational institutions came under consideration in the meeting.

Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas of IHC remarked government itself should form Joint Task Force for eradication of narcotics.

He said the court's objective was this all the relevant institutions should sit together and work practically in this campaign. Calling meeting merely is not enough but implementation on them should also be seen.

Rana Zulfiqar ANF Prosecutor told the court one focal person has been appointed in every private educational institution for elimination of narcotics. Meetings will be held regularly every month in this regard.

PERA authorities informed the court awareness campaign against narcotics is being run in educational institutions . A team comprising representatives of 100 schools was called on December 9 and special awareness session was held.

Private School Regulatory Authority told the court committee has been constituted in every school under focal person.

Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas made mention of running advertisement related to awareness campaign for elimination of narcotics by PERA.

He remarked he has not so far seen any report being broadcast.

The court summoned respective officer of PERA with reference to implementation of anti narcotics campaign on next hearing.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 27 with further directives.
