Islamabad: Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi visited state of the art and first of its kind National Forensic Agency in Islamabad, which has become completely functional. The Interior Minister inspected Research and Innovation Lab, Digital Forensic Lab, Narcotics Lab, Fintech Lab and Questionable Document Lab as well as the DNA, Firearms, Serology and Explosives rooms.
The Interior Minister appreciated the entire team for making the agency fully operational in a short span of time. Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said the establishment of the National Forensic Agency was a very important requirement of the present era. He said establishment of this agency would help in national security matters and combating crimes.
The Interior Minister said National Forensic Agency is providing state-of-the-art services and it will extend support to all provinces and law enforcement agencies.
Mohsin Naqvi also directed to establish sub-offices of National Forensic Agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said this institution will now provide international standard services and analysis across Pakistan. He stressed the need that the services provided by the agency should be widely publicized so that all institutions can benefit from them.
The Interior Minister also visited the mock crime scene unit. He inquired about the training course from under training ASPs and said the training course will help the officers throughout their career. During the visit, DG National Forensic Agency Hasnaat Rasool briefed the Interior Minister about the working of the agency.
It was briefed that the first phase of the National Forensic Agency has been completed while the work on the second phase will begin soon and 25 specialized labs will be established in this phase. It was also briefed that the agency is providing various services including digital forensics, deep fake forensics, computer and mobile forensics, audio video, network and drone forensics.
It was also briefed that a report of 1500 digital forensic cases has been compiled in a year. DG Anti-Narcotics Force, DG FIA, DG National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, IG Islamabad Police and other officials were also present on the occasion.
