ET imposes fine on PML-N MNAs for not filing reply


ISLAMABAD: Election Tribunal (ET) has sought affidavits again from successful candidates of PML-N in the case against alleged rigging in 3 constituencies of Islamabad.

ET imposed fine amounting to Rs 20000 each on Raja Khurram Nawaz and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for not filing forms 45 and 47 and complete reply timely .

The ET also slapped fine amounting to Rs 20000 on Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for not filing reply.

The ET ordered to file reply within three days.

ET has warned membership of those members who have not filed reply can be suspended.

ET has remarked hearing of all constituencies will be conducted separately and on day to day basis.

The ET adjourned the hearing of case against alleged rigging in NA-48 till July 9, NA-47 till July 10 and NA-46 till July 11.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the petitions filed by PTI candidates Monday.

The counsel said adjournment cannot be given more than three days.

The ET directed the counsel to read rule 144 of election act.

Mehmood Jahangiri remarked according to it, trial has to be conducted on day to day basis and decision has to be given in 180 days. According to it the respondents are bound to file reply within 7 days.

ET directed ” read section 147 what is it. According to it affidavit has to be filed with reply. Therefore we are evolving procedure first of all and then we will hear cases one by one. Hearing will take place on daily basis.
