Bhimber: Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's AJK President Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi has been arrested by Bhimber police on Sunday. Abdul Qayyum Niazi was taken into custody by the Bhimber police from Chandi Chontra area when he was going to Bhimber from Samahni.Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi was arrested by heavy contingent of police when he was taking part in the protest carried out for the release of PTI Founder Imran Khan.According to officials, arrest warrants had been issued for Niazi in a case related to the riots of May 9, 2023.Mirpur Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Liaquat Chaudhry said that the PTI leader was detained under Section 16 of the MPO, 1960. 'The arrest was made on the orders of the deputy commissioner,' the DIG added.It is worth mentioning here that Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi is also wanted to the Islamabad police. The Islamabad ATC judge had issued arrest warrants for Niazi in a case pertaining to the 26th November 2024 protest registered at the Karachi Company Police Station.
